AUSTIN, TEXAS\u2014March 25, 2026\u2014<\/strong>Buildxact,<\/a> a global software as a service company that provides a simple solution for suppliers, residential builders and remodelers to better manage and grow their business, surfaces data to show the efficiency and productivity wins from users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buildxact takes four main insights from its State of the Customer Report. The first is that the technology enables faster quotes to clients, which is increasing win rates. The report shows that estimates that are sent to clients within 2 days have a 32% win rate, approximately 2 times faster than the industry standard. After 2 days, the win rate continues to decrease at a steady rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This trend highlights the importance of technology tools, like Buildxact, to speed up estimating, which not only is important to shifting consumer expectations, but also to cutting labour costs. In general, the cost of running a construction business is higher than ever, so cutting costs at any opportunity is critical to maintain a healthy company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A second insight is that there is a growing importance in transparency. Buildxact\u2019s report shows that winning estimates have details and accessories all the way down to a door stop. Buildxact offers the ability for users to create clear and itemized estimates that can give clients visibility to costs, which leads to higher win rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWinning work is more about speed, but it\u2019s also about making sure it’s well detailed and well itemized,\u201d said Dustin Elliott, director of product operations at Buildxact. \u201cThat transparency is important to all the stakeholders on the project as well as the client. The more that the supplier, the subs, the contractor know, the better they can coordinate, and better the project outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A third insight Buildxact discovered was on the impact of underquoting. While underquoting can be used in a predictive way to protect margins, it can also represent large, costly errors. The report found that the items most often underquoted in winning estimates included labour costs (especially for general labour, carpentry and framing, tiling and finishing trades), groundwork and site preparation, and concrete. When underquoted, these items can lead to margin erosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three examples of quotes on cabinets, composite decking and lighting all show a variance of more than $4,000, representing up to 110% of the overall project cost, which would not only kill the project but ruin someone\u2019s small business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many Buildxact users have not tracked costs before moving to a digital process like Buildxact offers, so they end up consistently underquoting, genuinely not knowing how long a project will take. With ongoing use of Buildxact scheduling and timesheets, users have a better grasp of labour hours and can learn from job to job and correct when needed. That functionality is critical to building experience and having the data at their fingertips to make the best, and most accurate, estimates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fourth and final insight was that the more Buildxact customers use cost tracking tools, the more profitable they are. Buildxact analyzed the first five estimates and last five estimates of a group of subscribers to show that 66% of the builders who actively track costs and review performance over time see improving margins job after job versus those who don\u2019t. The habit of cost tracking can enable better decisions throughout the project lifecycle, and to sustain margin growth.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buildxact gives its users the tools they need to effectively do cost tracking, which means they’re setting themselves up to enable better decision making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

User Feedback Informing Product Development<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Buildxact also is engaging with its user base to understand what matters most to them. It has discovered three top themes that are the most important: staying on top of costs, keeping projects moving, and getting more done on the jobsite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that feedback, Buildxact is adding new Blu AI-assisted features like better visibility into numbers with financial tracking and scheduling enhancements. Buildxact also is developing improvements to invoicing, purchase orders, and accounting integrations to boost accuracy and remove double handling. The third focus is on mobile updates and on-the-go capabilities that keep work moving on the jobsite with enhancements to Buildxact onsite, browser workflows, and site diaries that help keep teams aligned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
